Mercedes-Benz - 220 A (W187) - 1955

Do not miss this opportunity and become the new owner of this very unique Mercedes 220A coupé (W187) in beautiful frame-off restored condition! The Typ 220 (W187) was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1951 as the new luxury car line-up by Mercedes-Benz. The Typ 220 came with several bodies including the exotic coupés and convertibles. The model had a 6-cylinder 2.2 litre petrol engine with 80 HP. The designers were inspired by the 170S (W136) model which shared the same construction with a square cab and prominent, flowing mudguards and sills. The main and most notable difference between the two is the positioning of the headlights. The Typ 220 had headlights on the side mudguards for a more modern look. The production of the Typ 220 ended in 1953 and was succeeded by the W105/W180. The coupé/convertible was built until 1955. They sold 18,514 units in the 5 years the Mercedes W187 was produced. Saloon: 16,154 Conv. A: 1,278 Conv. B: 997 Coupé: 85 Only 85 coupés were sold in total and only a few still exist. This makes the Mercedes 220A Coupé (W187) one of the rarest Mercedes classics, it is rare for it to be offered for sale. It’s also a very interesting investment because of its low production number, especially in this unique condition. The Mercedes was delivered new in 1955.
